about us

it's not about us, it's about Jesus

The core and foundation of our church is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! All of our worship, practices and love are rooted in Him. We want to glorify Him with our living and being in all that we are, and all that we do.

we believe

We are created for relationship with God, and with each other. It is God’s grace, freely offered to us, that gives us that relationship with Him—there is nothing we can ever do to earn it or deserve it. To accept this gift, we must believe in the life, death and redemptive work of Jesus on the cross, and live by faith in His grace and mercy for us. Out of our gratitude and love, we want to obey Him and live as Jesus taught us to live.

We practice two sacraments that demonstrate our faith:

  • Believer’s Baptism by immersion, because a public declaration of our faith gives us strength and confidence to go forth as believers.
  • The Lord’s Supper, celebrated to remind us of Jesus’ sacrifice for us and to affirm our commitment to live as His disciples.

More about what we believe

why we are here

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” —Matthew 28:19-20

Westminster Baptist Church exists to honor and glorify God by obeying Jesus' command to make disciples of all people groups. We accomplish this through our Mission and Core Values.

Our Mission

Reaching our community and beyond with the good news that Jesus saves (Luke 15, 19:10)

Teaching believers through the Bible how to love God and love their neighbors (Colossians 1:28; Matthew 22:37-40)

Sending those believers out into the world to share with others the story of how Jesus saved them (Romans 10:13-15; Acts 1:8)

our staff

David Walker

PASTOR

Pastor David began pastoring our church in March 2020 — just before we had to change our Sunday format from meeting in the sanctuary to holding drive-in services. But, David was heard to say "I'm excited about God showing us new and creative ways to continue our worship and ministry!"

David, his wife Jean, and their four children (Maggie 19, Ben 17, Holly 10, and Lily 10) moved to Westminster from Charleston. WBC has welcomed them as warmly as possible during the COVID-19 environment, and we long to get to know them better as soon as possible.
